Q. Why do you need water-methanol injection for your GDI application?

A. Direct injected engines do not inject gasoline over the top of the intake valves.  The elimination of fuel over the top of the intake valves allows for excessive build up of carbon and or oil deposits left behind by the PCV system or oil crank case systems.  Not only this, but the EGR system pumps hot gas into the intake manifold cooking the PCV systems oil vapor's onto the back of the intake valves.  This makes for a perfect combination of oil and heat, building a very nasty build-up of excessive carbon build up on the back of your intake valves.  This is where water-methanol systems play a huge part in "cleaning" as well as additional power if properly tuned.  The water-methanol gets injected above the intake tracts, sometime before the throttle body, sometimes after the throttle body.  The methanol inside the mix works as a cleaning agent for the intake manfiold, cylinder runner's and most important... the back of the intake valves.

Q. Will I make more power with my water-methanol system?

A.  Yes it will, but there are two different ways to gain power from a water-methanol system when it comes to direct injected vehicles.

1. If you have excessive miles on your engine and the methanol start to clean the valves, there will be power gains from cleaning the valves (less gunk means more air can flow into the chamber).

2. If you properly tune for methanol you can see gain as high as 100 + WTQ and 70 + WHP.  There are several tuning systems on the market for different vehicle platforms, look around and find what might work best for you.  If you don't have any idea, feel free to contact us and we will give you some recommendations.

Stage 1 Kit 

The gasoline Stage 1 Boost Cooler™ kit is available for forced induction applications that are either fuel injected or carbureted. Operation is very simple: the system starts injecting when the boost switch reaches the user-adjustable point and it injects a fixed amount of fluid through the nozzle until the switch opens again. This makes it a good choice for low to medium boost setups looking for an octane enhancement and cooler intake charge. Activation can also be set up through any other user-chosen switch, such as a full throttle switch, etc.

Stage 2 Kit

This kit uses manifold boost pressure to determine when and how much fluid to inject. Proportionally injecting according to boost pressure gives the most accurate delivery of water-methanol and allows the most cooling and performance improvement over the widest range. More power and driveability is the result. It can be used on any forced induction engine: carbureted, fuel injected, turbocharged, positive displacement or centrifugal blowers. The most suitable are the centrifugal supercharged and turbocharged engines, as they build boost is a more progressive manner concerning water-methanol injection. The positive displacement blower engines will work, but it might take more work to dial in the delivery. For higher boost applications (over 25psi), the controller can be upgraded to our VC100 unit. Stage 3 Kit

The Stage 3 Boost Cooler® is unmatched for accuracy and adjustability in water-methanol injection systems. This system can be used on any forced induction engine, or ANY engine with a traditonal EFI system, and features our LCD display with on-the-fly adjustability. 

Extremely easy to set up and dial in - the software creates a delivery map based on boost or EFI signal from just a few easy to set points you punch in from the drivers seat. 

The LCD Screen displays boost pressure, fuel injector duty cycle, as well as water-methanol injection percent. Quick, easy, positive adjustments are made with 2 push buttons. Low profile design allows for easy-to-view and discrete mounting.
